Dr Jawiria Naseem

Lecturer in Education & Social Justice and Decolonising the Curriculum Lead, University of Birmingham

Dr Jawiria Naseem is an early career academic in Education in the Department of Education and Social Justice (University of Birmingham).

Her work adopts an intersectional perspective in examining the education and employment nexus and how various social divisions – ethnicity, religion, gender and class -impact on the life trajectories and experiences of young people from disadvantaged background in Western Europe, especially in France and the UK.

Jawiria is currently leading a project on decolonising the curriculum in her Department (School of Education) with the aim to create spaces and resources for a dialogue to benefit the learning and outcomes of all students.
