Dr Liz Gregory

Joint Head of Child and Family Psychology and Therapies, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

Dr Liz Gregory is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the NHS since 1991.

Together with Dr Rachel Williams she has jointly led the Child and Family Psychology Service for 17 years. Their focus has been on promoting a more relational, developmental and contextual understanding of children’s distress – in recognition that adult relationships and psychologically informed environments have the potential to change the trajectory of their lives. Having developed a range of community embedded intervention service over a number of years, the Iceberg Model offers a framework for taking a whole systems approach to children’s mental health services, ensuring that services are designed around the needs of children and families, including the most vulnerable.

Schools have an enormous part to play in this model, but not without support.
